Despite the lovely warm weather we are experiencing in Chicago this week, fall is slowly and surely approaching, trees are changing its leaves to the gorgeous palette of colors and we know that it is the time of the year when sun light is gradually shortened, temperature drops, rainy grey days come and it might make us more tired and sleepy than usual.
Fall is sometimes the very busy season for most of us, we come back from holidays, return to our regular routines, children go back to school and hobbies and it might reflect in reduced stamina and increased stress.
To give you an extra boost and prevent any signs of hibernation ;) I would like to introduce my go-to energizing and anti-stress treat which tastes as indulging just as any decadent hot cocoa yet it is enriched with amazing powerful boosting Ayurvedic herbs Ashwagandha and Turmeric.
Ashwagandha is a popular Ayurvedic adaptogenic herb, which provides an extra kick for restorative and nourishing benefits, it also soothes the nervous system, lowers levels of cortisol, and improves memory while it strengthens immunity.
Turmeric is a wonderful anti-inflammatory agent known among many benefits for brain function boosting qualities and anti-aging potential. This herb will keep you well.
You'll need few ingredients for this delicious and healthy treat:
2 cups of your choice of organic milk (dairy or plant based)
1 tbsp maple syrup or molasses
1/4 cacao powder or carob powder
1 tbsp pumpkin pie spice mix
1 tsp Ashwagandha
1 tsp Turmeric
Pour milk in a medium saucepan on a medium heat and add cacao or carob powder and maple syrup. Stir until the milk begins to steam and take off the heat right away. Whisk in spices and herbs. Use a hand blender to make a foam and serve with a fresh cinnamon stick.
